This school is
one of the oldest international school in Indonesia. The school was first
established by a group of expatriates who move in Jakarta in 1951. They generally
work as a representative of the United Nations (UN) for Indonesia. At that time,
the newly independent Indonesia and other countries began to receive representation.
UN workers have agreed to establish a school to meet the educational needs of their
children. The school started operating with English
as the medium of education daily. Initially, the school only has five students who
are the children of expatriates. The school was given the name of the Joint Embassy
School in 1969 because it is filled by the children of expatriates who originate
from the UK, USA, Australia, and Yugoslavia. The embassy states that the
proponent of funding for student activities at the school. After going through nearly
six decades since its founding, the school now offers education for the primary
level to high school.
Now the school is
located in Cilandak, South Jakarta. Educates approximately 2,400 students from 60
countries. Teachers who work in hundreds JIS representing 20 different kewarganeagaraan.
They have a foundation that is responsible for the management of the school. The
foundation consists of eleven people from the UK embassy, the United States, and
Australia. Representatives of Yugoslavia did
not fall into the foundation for the country's already broke and splintered
into several countries. The Foundation was tasked to determine the direction of
school education and have a principal. The school is accredited by the Western Association
of Schools and Colleges and the Council of International Schools. U.S. State
Department reported that the Jakarta International School curriculum has a
strong international focus and consider it as one of the best schools abroad to
prepare students enter universities in the United States. JIS has three campuses,
two in elementary school in Pondok Indah and Pattimura and the main campus for middle
and high school in Cilandak, South Jakarta.
Rape case that
occurred in 2013 it seems to have become a byword for some parents. The case
was not exposed because there is no legal requirement at all. victims of sexual
abuse in kindergarten Jakarta International School (JIS) again revealed. The
severity of the teachers in JIS already know about the incident this time. Based
on the excavation investigation, it turns out the teacher already knows there was
violence in schools.
And there are many things that are
covered by the school. The victim was treated profanity as much as three times.
Even the perpetrator was the same as the police had arrested some time ago. The
event that occurred is no longer sexual abuse, but the abuse of humanity. Cases
of sexual violence that afflicts kindergarten students at Jakarta International
School, is still explored police officers. Allegations that the principal had pedophilia
tendencies still be investigated further.
Of incident cases
above, we can conclude that in our country's crime rate is still very high. Therefore,
the government should give more attention to this issue. To avoid further cases
of sexual abuse of children. Not just a case of abuse, there are many other criminal
cases that need to be in the finish. In my opinion, to resolve the issue needs
to be strict laws of the government. With
strict law, the public is expected to be afraid of and comply with applicable
regulations. Sample only in developed countries. The crime rate in the country they
are very small, almost non-existent. Not only that, cooperation between communities
to realize a crime-free state is also very necessary. In order to create a
healthy country envisioned by our nation over the years.
